Some advertisers miss the demographic. September 17, 2007

I got an email advertisement from Dick’s Sporting Goods and I have to say, they missed the demographic. The ad was for 2008 Brute / adidas Wrestling Products and showed a picture of a wrestler who looked a bit out of high school or collage. See for yourself.
Now, if I were Dick’s, I’d pick a much younger looking man to appeal to more of the crowd I was selling to. Most wrestling ads, both online and off, that I see do depict a younger generation. Sure, this wrestler may be in collage, but he just looks a bit older.
Good imagery is a a big step to making the sale. I don’t think Dick’s Sporting Goods did a very good job here. What do you think?
