Do you wear wrestling socks? July 22, 2007

I find it kind of interesting that they market wrestling socks
I guess they do offer the cool factor. The ASICS Take Down II Crew are pretty cool as they say “Addicted to Wrestling” around your ankle. There are also some socks with skulls, flags, team logos, flames and much more. Granted, I think they look pretty cool, but functionality wise, do they really do any good? Will they keep your feet dryer or help you win a wrestling match?
Most of the descriptions do say they do provide additional grip inside the shoe. But couldn’t you just get a pair of wrestling shoes that fit or tie them tighter?
I’d be interested to hear peoples feedback. Do you wear wrestling socks? If so, do you feel they help you on the mat?
I really like wearing the nike shin high football socks, not only for the coolness factor… but also because they really do feel better than the traditional sock. You just feel better because most if not all good wrestlers wear longer socks with some design.
I Don’t even bother wearing socks with my shoes, i find it too hot in the gym with them and they just irritate me. Just have to make sure you keep them clean all the time so they dont smell, hahaha.
